Instead of a common boring lawn of grass, one man decided “Screw the lawn”, so created something more useful and attractive.

The first day I’m sure they all thought to themselves “Oh no, what is he doing??”, but it wasn’t long before they were all in awe over the beautiful garden that transformed his front lawn into something so much more than just a front lawn.

Not only does the garden look beautiful but it also produces food for him and his family. For example, they grows spinach, beets, tomatoes, radishes, peas, arugula, and more. Fresh Veg in the front garden!

He started by making 8 6′x4′ raised beds with 1″x10″x10′ reclaimed redwood barn timber.


Then the beds were filled with free compost that the city gives away.


After spreading bark then the seeds started sprouting quickly


Irrigation installed. He also filled cinder blocks with compost, which hold the wood chips off the sidewalk and also create a honeybee sanctuary with lavender, rosemary, thyme, and basil planted in them.
